Research Databases for Argumentative Essays

For those students who have an upcoming argumentative essay research assignment:

  • Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center: Includes hot topic social issues, from Terrorism to Endangered Species, Stem Cell Research to Gun Control. Drawing on the Opposing Viewpoints print series published by Greenhaven Press and other Gale publications, this one-stop source brings together a wide variety of resources including: pro and con viewpoint articles; reference book articles; magazine, scholarly journal, and newspaper articles, primary source documents, statistics, and web sites. Explore the Popular Topics list from the main screen.
  • General OneFile: Includes articles on a wide range of topics including: business, economics, education, environmental issues, health care, humanities, law, politics, science, social science, sports, and technology. This one-stop source bring together a wide variety of resources including magazine, journal, newspaper, and reference book articles.  Try a Subject Guide Search and click on the Subdivisions link underneath your subject to explore various aspects of your topic.
